Ten years getting businesses found in search — and now measuring whether the assistants name them.

SEO and GEO specialist

I have spent the last decade on search: five years agency-side, and five before that running content for an online retailer. Technical audits, site architecture, local search, content strategy — the unglamorous half of the job, which is the half that moves numbers.

I teach the SEO module on an internet marketing course at Hillel IT School, including the part about optimising for AI search. That is where Sayso started. Students asked what to do about ChatGPT naming three competitors and not them, and the honest answer in 2025 was that nobody could measure it properly, let alone fix it.

So I built the measurement first. Every number in these articles comes from runs I set up and read: the question sets, the repeats, the raw answers. Where something is uncertain I say so, because the alternative is a confident number that falls apart the first time a client checks it by opening ChatGPT themselves.

I write here about what the measurements show, including the parts that do not flatter us — a scan that moved nothing is a result too, and pretending otherwise is how this category earns its reputation.

What you can check

  • Every figure is traceable. Each number in an article comes from a measurement described in the method, and the raw answers behind it are kept.
  • Error bars are named. Questions are asked more than once, results are reported as a share, and movement under five points is called no change.
  • Assistants are never averaged. A blended figure hides the assistant you are absent from, which is the one worth knowing about.
