Cookies
The one cookie we set, and why
Last updated 29 September 2026. Short, because there is not much to say.
The short version
The public pages of this site set no cookies at all. You can read every page, run the free check and write to us without one. One cookie is set when you sign in, and it exists so that the next page knows it is still you. There are no advertising cookies and no third-party trackers on this site.
What the cookie is
Name. sayso_session
What it holds. Your account number and the time you signed in, signed with a key only our server has. Nothing else — not your email, not your name, nothing about your business. The signature is what stops the value being edited into somebody else’s account.
How long it lives. Thirty days, or until you sign out. Signing out clears it immediately.
How it is protected. It is sent only over an encrypted connection, it is not readable by scripts in the page, and it is not sent when another site links to us.
What we do not use
No analytics cookies, no advertising cookies, no pixels, no cross-site profiling, no embedded widgets that set cookies of their own. If that changes — an analytics tool is the likely candidate — this page will say so before it happens, and the choice will be yours to make.
Server logs are not cookies
Our server records the page requested, the time, the browser and the network address, and keeps that for thirty days for security. That happens for every website and does not involve a cookie or identify you by name. It is described in the privacy policy along with everything else we hold.
Turning it off
Every browser can block or delete cookies for a site. Blocking ours costs you nothing on the public pages; the dashboard will simply ask you to sign in again on every page, which makes it unusable. That is the whole trade.
